Perlite is a light and natural volcanic rock that is heated to airy, white granules with a grain size of 0.6–2.5 mm. It is widely used to make potting soil more aerated and to improve drainage, allowing roots to receive more oxygen and excess water to be drained away more effectively. Thanks to its light structure, perlite helps create a healthy and stable growing medium for both houseplants and cuttings.
